Star Products (formally known as The Hoffmann Company) was founded in 1924 as a Manufacturers' Representative Company in the Automotive Aftermarket. After WWII the Company saw a need for certain types of equipment and began to Design and Manufacture Automotive Test Equipment. Out of the success of this test equipment grew a family of test products, which are used, today in both automotive and industrial applications around the world.
In August 2003 A & E Incorporated of Racine, Wisconsin acquired Star Products. The late Daniel M. Lang founded A & E INCORPORATED in 1932. From this one-man operation A & E has developed a family of companies which designs, manufactures and distributes specialty automotive/industrial tools, test equipment, small engine pulleys and produces custom contract metal stampings and distributes quality German tools. A & E Incorporated remains a privately held "family" business.
Star Products offers gasoline/diesel engine and transmission test tools and equipment that include: Engine Compression, Cylinder Leakage, Fuel Injection, Pressure and Vacuum testers. Star Products manufactures under their own brand name "Star" to major tool manufacturers, distributors and fleet maintenance/repair operations, and on a private label basis for companies such as: Matco Tools and the ATD group.
